Lands and Resources

The Department of Lands and Resources promotes and protects Métis interests regarding environmental issues. The Department ensures a flow of information between the Provincial and Federal Government, Industry and our Stakelholders to the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan.

♦  We provide support and advice on issues regarding Duty to Consult, Harvesting, and environmental issues facing the modern Métis.

♦  We strive at including Métis participation in consultation and decisions affecting the locals, region and province.

♦  We are promoting relationships with the Crown regarding Métis Harvesting rights.

♦  We contribute to Stakeholder committees to ensure a Métis perspective.

Métis worldview reflects an ecological perspective that advocates careful use of renewable and non-renewable resources. Sustainability needs to find a balance between the environment and the economic needs.
