The MN-S Health Department has identified partnership development as key in improving Métis health outcomes. As a result, the Health Department is working to engage the Métis and non-Métis community, health service providers and stakeholders in discussions, formal and informal, to heighten awareness of Métis health issues and to work together to improve health services to Métis people in Saskatchewan. The Health Department is working to build their own capacity by creating a working group of experts in Métis health and by working with academic and community settings to facilitate research projects with the goal of capacity exchange and knowledge translation.
The MN-S Health Department meets regularly with the Métis National Council Health Committee which includes health departments of the other Métis Governing Member Organizations. As well, the Department sits on the Provincial Tobacco Committee, and the Saskatoon Health Region’s Aboriginal Health Council Working Group.
